Ghent International Festival

The youth is the city is the youth

‘Ghent International Festival’ or GIF, for short, returns for its second edition in April 2024. Cultural partners from across the city join forces for this multidisciplinary festival. They showcase high-profile work of their own, but also join forces to realise unique projects and bring international artists to Ghent.

This time, young people are central to the DNA of the GIF programme. Not coincidentally, Ghent is also European Youth Capital in 2024. GIF showcases work by young creators, artists working with children and young people as well as artists addressing the question of what it means to be young. Expect to see performances, on and off stage, with local and international artists and scattered across the city. Expect performances and installations that transcend the ordinary, stimulate the imagination and give Ghent a thrilling twist. Don’t miss ‘Building Castles in the Sky’, a project in which Gouvernement translates the spatial desires of a young generation into artistic works throughout the city.
