Een avond vol literatuur

Need tips for summer reading? On Tuesday May 27, Dalilla Hermans, Ibe Rossel, and Angelo Tijssens will join presenter Ruth Joos for a new edition of 'Uitgelezen'. We will discuss three books that are perfect for sultry evenings, lazy mornings, or distant vacation destinations:

Annet Schaap - 'Krekel'

The long-awaited sequel to the multiple award-winning 'Lampje', the debut that earned Annet Schaap the Woutertje Pieterse Prize, the Gouden Griffel, and the Boekenleeuw in 2017. 'Krekel' is once again a story to cherish, for young and old, and takes place in the same world as 'Lampje'.

"The language of Annet Schaap is addictive and always makes you long for the next sentence." - de Volkskrant

Samanta Schweblin - 'Het goede kwaad'

Argentinian author Samanta Schweblin knows how to captivate readers. In the short story collection 'Het goede kwaad', she explores the boundaries between real and unreal, and indeed, good and evil. Fans are rubbing their hands together, and for other readers, this may well be a discovery: how suggestive language can be, often in a disorienting way.

"Samanta Schweblin excels with the lucid prose from ‘Het goede kwaad’ in suggestion, the mysterious, and the unsettling." - Humo

Tore Renberg - 'De longdrijfproef'

The acclaimed Norwegian author Tore Renberg wrote his first historical novel with 'De longdrijfproef' about a trial in Leipzig in 1861. Renberg keeps the tension high thanks to various narrative perspectives, each following its own logic. In short, it is about a young woman – fifteen years old – who may or may not have murdered her baby. A dramatic event, based on ancient facts, and good for over five hundred pages of thrilling literature.

"Uitgelezen" is an initiative by Behoud de Begeerte and VIERNULVIER, in collaboration with Bibliotheek De Krook, Iedereen Leest, and the Poëziecentrum.
