Siggie Vertommen

Guest lecturer

Siggie Vertommen is a feminist researcher, lecturer, and activist. She divides her working time between Ghent University and the University of Amsterdam, where she teaches and conducts research on gender. Her research grapples with the social study of (assisted) reproduction from feminist and anticolonial perspectives. She uses reproductive technologies, including transnational surrogacy, egg donation, and adoption as a lens to make sense of broader socio-political realities.  She is involved in various slow science, labor, and feminist collectives, including the UGent Women's Strike, Furia, and Sophia. She has a dog called Eddie.
