A flipped lesson in aesthetics

Jens Dendoncker is many things: stand-up comedian, presenter, gifted lover, and a big fan of art. He now wants to share that last passion with the general public.

In this show, Jens takes you along with his well-known enthusiasm through one of the wildest chapters in art history: the Romantic period!

This particular period has a massive image problem. With the help of aggressive marketing and a handful of films starring Julia Roberts, we have come to associate 'romance' with scented candles around the bath, flower petals on the bedspread, and a bottle of massage oil for €11.49 (order by 23:59, delivered tomorrow!). In doing so, it seems we have completely forgotten a whole cultural and historical period that produced many of the greatest writers, painters, and thinkers of the 18th and 19th centuries.

It's time to restore the true Romanticism and assess its relevance for our time.
Were some Romantic landscape painters the first climate activists?
Can Goethe still teach us something about modern relationships?
Was the French painter Géricault the inventor of fake news?

Discover it together with Jens in a flipped lesson on aesthetics, where he is not shy about adding a personal remark here and there.
