El Viaje

During this urban and rural walk, a guide questions the expectations that this word – island – evokes. They trace their personal history through the landscape, linking it to human and non-human flows, to the idea of borders, and to notions of exoticism.

Reversing the usual relationship between travel time and length of stay at the destination, participants are invited to refocus their gaze on the moment of travel itself, and on the formation of a group — an ephemeral community united by a shared sensual experience.

The project is a site-specific experience, conceptualized and rewritten in each host location, based on the local context and the personal story of an invited actress/guide.

EL VIAJE is directed by Igor Cardellini and Tomas Gonzalez, in collaboration with Colectivo utópico, a group of six artists from Argentina, Brazil and Switzerland.
