Workshop 'Creating Access'

Josefien Cornette & Louise Fryer
VIERNULVIER

An inspiring exchange between artists and cultural workers

The question ‘What does it mean for you to be present in your practice?’ should be the first question all makers ask themselves at the start of a project.

Dive into a 3-hour workshop, led by Dr. Louise Fryer and artist Josefien Cornette, that focuses on integrating accessibility into creative practices. Discover how accessibility shifts from being a tool for people with disabilities to a crucial component in art.

The workshop explores themes of mutual aid, collective care and fair practice, and sees accessibility as an essential approach in creation and implementation.

Topics covered include:

  • What is a 'relaxed performance'?
  • How can the 'social model of disability' take shape in a creation?
  • What is the relationship between accessibility and dramaturgy?
  • What is the importance of creators with disabilities?
  • How to use disability as a creative tool
