Groot Debat 2024

In the run-up to the 2024 elections, LARF!, KOPERGIETERY, VIERNULVIER, Jeugdraad Gent and the Youth Service of the City of Ghent are organising a large-scale project within Ghent European Youth Capital 2024 to enthuse young people to go to the polls: Great Debate 2024.

33 classes from 23 third-level secondary schools in Ghent registered to debate with each other and with policymakers. About what? They choose from six possible themes: climate, money, feeling good, city of the future, democracy and living together.

Throughout the school year, we will visit the schools with content experts and artists to get the pupils talking to each other and turning their impressions into art. On Thursday 25 April, we will bring together all 750 young people from the classrooms. In table debates, they will discuss propositions and work out proposals. Then they will discuss them with policymakers in a big final debate.
