VIERNULVIER seeks bar manager nightlife (part-time)

student/flexi job/loose employee

Art Center VIERNULVIER receives 350,000 visitors annually for theater, debates, concerts, spoken word, talks, performances, dance, nightlife, and literature. The VIERNULVIER Café, located in De Vooruit, serves as a central meeting place. VIERNULVIER presents its program both inside and outside De Vooruit.

Are you the bar manager we are looking for to lead a bar team during the event?

For our nightlife segment, we are looking for an enthusiastic bar team that can be flexibly available throughout the year, both during the week and on weekends. On average, two events take place per week during the event season. Are you excited to be part of the vibrant nightlife at art center VIERNULVIER? Are you flexible and enjoy a physical job? Join our team for the nightlife events at De Vooruit and Club Wintercircus.

What are your main tasks?

  • The nightlife bar manager is someone who leads the team of bar staff and students, ensuring smooth bar operations and a positive experience for guests and staff. You supervise the bar's operation: checking stock, replenishing refrigerators with drinks, preparing necessary items, checking the tap installation, and overseeing the cleanliness and order of the bar and tap installation.
  • You start the shift, distribute tasks, and maintain an overview. You train less experienced bar staff and are eager to share your knowledge of the trade.
  • You actively participate in the work and ensure a pleasant flow within your team and behind the bar.
  • You are responsible for the smooth progression of sales and the efficient operation of the hardware of the cash systems (e.g., ensuring there are enough payment terminals, all hardware is charged, etc.).
  • You collect waste and sort it as instructed.
  • Follow up on empty goods, dishware, and reusable cups.
  • You always maintain an overview of the flow and atmosphere in the venue.
  • You close the evening and ensure that the bar and stock are left clean.

Who are we looking for?

  • Knowledge and experience in hospitality is a requirement.
  • You enjoy leading people, and thanks to your relevant experience, you do so in an inspiring way.
  • You are a problem solver, and your technical skills are an essential asset.
  • You remain calm in stressful situations and can adapt when necessary.
  • You are well-organized and spontaneously oversee tasks and work activities.
  • As a role model, accuracy is a must.
  • You are customer-friendly and have a welcoming and helpful manner when interacting with our visitors.
  • You have knowledge of hygiene and safety standards.
  • You, like us, believe that sustainability and social accessibility are important.
  • You work only in the evenings and regularly on weekends.
  • A connection to the cultural sector is a plus.

If you do not meet all the requirements yet but are very enthusiastic about this job, do not hesitate and
apply. Art Center VIERNULVIER values the diversity of our colleagues, without distinction based on gender, religion, skin color, nationality, gender preference, disability, age, or ethnic origin. We strive to reflect the residents of the city - both in our staff and in our visitors. We are curious about your talent and how you can
contribute to our story.

What do we offer?

  • We value a good team atmosphere.
  • You will work in beautiful venues such as De Vooruit and Club Wintercircus.
  • Salary according to the scale of PC 302 - Responsible Bar
  • You will work with flexible day contracts within the Joint Committee of Hospitality

How do you apply?

Send your CV and cover letter to vacature_barverantwoordelijke@viernulvier.gent
You will be contacted regarding your application within 14 days.

What can you expect from the application process?

  • You will be invited for an interview that lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. This will be a conversation with Seline, the HR colleague.
  • In this introductory conversation, we will assess your motivation, experience, and knowledge, as well as your fit for the role. Of course, you will also have the opportunity to ask all your questions.
  • If you are a good fit for the role, you will have the chance to shadow a colleague for a day to get to know the workplace and job content so that we can assess together whether the job is truly right for you.
