Because we can't stand by and watch it any longer
Since 1948, all countries have been obliged under international law to help prevent or stop a suspected genocide.
Including Belgium.
With this message displayed on the façades of Flemish cultural institutions, we call on the Belgian government to take stronger action against the grave human rights violations committed by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank.
As cultural houses, we do not collaborate with Israeli institutions that support their government's policies. Our purchasing policy is ethically screened, using the same standards we apply to our financial partners.
We are actively mobilising for protests and actions, including the demonstration on 15 June in Brussels. We urge the Belgian government to call for an immediate ceasefire, impose sanctions on Israel, recognise the State of Palestine, and protect human rights organisations.
