To Turn On
VIERNULVIER

This two-day workshop is conceived as a first collective encounter within an ongoing research. It opens a space to share practices that have been emerging around questions of pleasure, eroticism, and consent. As choreographers, the body and its sensations and perception has always been at the center of our investigations, yet we notice how sexuality often remains outside the frame, something avoided, or carefully contained. While we understand this gesture, we are interested in asking: what do we lose with this separation? What becomes possible if we invite pleasure and eroticism back into our studio and stage practices? What tools do we have to navigate the tension between the terrains of artistic and sexual practice?

This workshop is an attempt to move with these questions.

Through a combination of somatic practices, touch,  movement research, imagination exercises, writing and reading, we will explore how desire, pleasure, and “being turned on” can become choreographic forces. We approach these not as fixed or obvious experiences, but as something to be listened to, practiced, and re-imagined.

Consent will not be treated as something we already know how to do, but as a practice: something we negotiate, sense, test, and refine together. The workshop proposes a collective space where limits are not assumed in advance, but explored with attention and care.

Across two days, we invite participants into an intimate and collective process where sexuality and pleasure are approached not as given or natural, but as historically shaped, socially regulated, and sensorially lived and therefore open to transformation.

This workshop is for artists who are curious about the questions and practices evoked and have a desire to explore them in a collective process.

The workshop is free of charge, by registration before 28 of September. We will answer them by the 5th of October.

This workshop is part of EMERGE, a project funded by Interreg VI
