Welcome at De Vooruit
Our iconic building is a vibrant meeting place in the historic heart of Ghent, easily accessible by public transport, bicycle, and car. Each year, we are proud to welcome as many as 350,000 visitors. You can come to us for (corporate) events, conferences, dinners, or receptions - whether or not linked to a performance or show. Thanks to our experienced technical team and in-house catering, your event will also be a professional production.
CONCERT HALL
THEATER HALL
Red velvet seats, marble murals, and balconies with gold leaf: the Theater Hall is the crown jewel of De Vooruit.

This hall is suitable for large theater productions (the legendary ‘Ten Oorlog’ performances took place here), concerts (for example, Sonic Youth performed on the theater stage), comedy, and talks.
With its beautiful stained glass ceiling, marble murals, gold leaf decorated balconies, and red velvet seats, the Theater Hall is the crown jewel of De Vooruit. Above the stage, the former motto ‘Art Refines’ immediately catches the eye.
BALZAAL
Door verbouwingswerken in De Vooruit is deze zaal momenteel niet beschikbaar, en kan dus ook niet worden verhuurd.
Van een receptie tot een uitgebreid diner, concert of nightlife event: in onze multi-inzetbare Balzaal kan het allemaal. De zaal, ooit het volksrestaurant van de socialistische beweging, dankt haar naam aan de majestueuze spiegels die de ruimte sieren.
Kenmerkend voor de Balzaal is de mix van hedendaags (moderne lichtinstallatie) en historisch (lusters, toog, strokenparket). Bovendien kan de grootte van de zaal aangepast worden naar believen. Dit maakt van de Balzaal de geschikte plek voor jouw concert, nightlife event, luxediner, dansfeest of spaghettifestijn. De balzaal is geschikt voor kleinere groepen maar ook voor feesten met 400 gasten. Tom Lanoye is er z’n carrière begonnen, Tindersticks hebben er een intiem concert gegeven, en Wim Vandekeybus filmde er z’n bekroonde kortfilm.
FOYER THEATER HALL
A stately hall with restored stucco work and a lovely balcony overlooking the Scheldt. Perfect for receptions, meetings, lectures, and intimate acoustic concerts for up to 100 people.
Capacity - 100 people (standing) Area - 100m² Suitable for - presentations, lectures, book launches, acoustic concerts, receptions, ... In one of the four foyers at the back of the building resides the Foyer Theater Hall, a stately hall with restored stucco work and a lovely balcony that offers a view of the Krook, the South, and the Muinkschelde. Perfect for receptions, dinners, coffee tables, and baby showers, or meetings, exhibitions, lectures, and intimate acoustic concerts: your group can be accommodated both seated and standing in the Foyer Theater Hall. With herringbone parquet flooring, underfloor heating, large windows, a historic bar, and an impressive rosette, it is particularly pleasant to stay in the Foyer Theater Hall. Just ask the former royal couple Albert and Paola, whom we had the pleasure of hosting at the reception after a performance by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
OTHER ROOMS & HALLS
The Vooruit is a house with a lot of rooms. The spaces below are not rented out separately, but are used for rehearsals, artistic residencies, etc. For larger productions, they are sometimes used as break-out rooms or additional venues.
CAFE & TERRACE
The VIERNULVIER Café is the largest café/restaurant in Ghent. The space itself is not available for rent, but has extensive opening hours. open Monday to Saturday: open from 10:00 Sunday: closed (exceptionally open for evening performances on Sunday)

DOM HALL
A hidden gem under the roof of De Vooruit where you can experience the most unique concerts and performances.
Due to renovation works in De Vooruit, this hall is currently unavailable and cannot be rented (until early 2026).
DANCE STUDIO
The Dance Studio on the third floor of De Vooruit is a versatile space with a wooden parquet floor that is typically used for rehearsals, but can also serve for try-outs and small performances.
MUSIC STUDIO
The music studio on the third floor of (the front building of) De Vooruit is a space typically used for musical rehearsals within the resident program of VIERNULVIER. In the context of the collaboration with Club Wintercircus, this space will be equipped with a 360° immersive sound system, aimed at the preproduction of immersive A/V shows for Club Wintercircus.
MOKABON
The Mokabon in De Vooruit - not to be confused with the legendary coffee shop at the Ghent Korenmarkt - is one of the spaces on the upper floors of the rear building of De Vooruit, with a view of the Scheldt and Woodrow Wilson Square. This space is typically used as a rehearsal room within the resident program of VIERNULVIER, but can also be used as a break-out room during larger events and conferences.
ANTIEKZOLDER
The Antiekzolder - which translates as "Antiques Attic" - of De Vooruit is one of the spaces on the upper floors of the rear building of De Vooruit, with a view of the Scheldt and Woodrow Wilson Square. This space is typically used as a rehearsal room within the resident program of VIERNULVIER, but can also be used as a break-out room during larger events and conferences.
