Welcome at De Vooruit
Our iconic building is a vibrant meeting place in the historic heart of Ghent, easily accessible by public transport, bicycle, and car. Each year, we are proud to welcome as many as 350,000 visitors. You can come to us for (corporate) events, conferences, dinners, or receptions - whether or not linked to a performance or show. Thanks to our experienced technical team and in-house catering, your event will also be a professional production.
CONCERT HALL

During the silent film era, this was the very first cinema of De Vooruit, now known as the quintessential Ghent venue for parties and concerts: the Concert Hall. The very first I Love Techno took place here, Nirvana gave a legendary performance, and bands like Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Arno have graced the stage here.
Balconies, murals, a strip of stained glass ceiling, gilded ornaments, bars, and a foyer make the Concert Hall suitable for various events, both standing and seated.
THEATER HALL
Red velvet seats, marble murals, and balconies with gold leaf: the Theater Hall is the crown jewel of De Vooruit.

This hall is suitable for theater & dance productions, concerts, comedy, and talks. The Theater Hall of De Vooruit is an icon of Ghent's cultural life where you can find a very wide range of performances, thanks to the large stage with theater tower.
Above the stage, the former motto ‘Art Elevates’ immediately catches the eye. A unique hall where present and past seamlessly blend into one another.
BALLROOM
Nightlife club, dining hall or reception space: the enchanting Ballroom is all of that.

From a reception to an elaborate dinner or full-on nightlife event: our multifunctional Ballroom is ready for it. The hall, once the public restaurant of the socialist movement, owes its name to the majestic mirrors that adorn the space. Characteristic of the Ballroom is the mix of contemporary (modern lighting installation) and historical (chandeliers, arch, strip parquet). Moreover, the size of the hall can be adjusted as desired. This makes the Ballroom the perfect place for your dinner, reception, or dance party.
THEATER HALL FOYER
Our most beautiful space at the Scheldekaai: the Theater Hall Foyer, a stately hall with restored stucco and a lovely balcony that offers an amazing view of the city.

Suitable for presentations, lectures, book launches, receptions, ...
With herringbone parquet, underfloor heating, high windows, a historic bar, and an impressive rosette, it is a royal setting. Quite literally, since the Belgian royal couple Albert and Paola attended a reception here a while back.
OTHER ROOMS & HALLS
The Vooruit is a house with a lot of rooms. The spaces below are not rented out separately, but are used for rehearsals, artistic residencies, etc. For larger productions, they are sometimes used as break-out rooms or additional venues.
CAFE & TERRACE
The VIERNULVIER Café is the largest café/restaurant in Ghent. The space itself is not available for rent, but has extensive opening hours. open Monday to Saturday: open from 10:00 Sunday: closed (exceptionally open for evening performances on Sunday)

DOM HALL
Capacity - 196 people (seated)
Area - 388m
The Domzaal is the highest hall of De Vooruit, located just below the roof at the front of the building. The hall measures 17 by 22 meters and is spanned by steel arches that support the roof.

DANCE STUDIO
The Dance Studio is located one level below the Domzaal of De Vooruit and is a versatile space with a wooden floor that is typically used for rehearsals of dance performances or as a break-out space during larger events and conferences.
MUSIC STUDIO
The music studio on the third floor of (the front building of) De Vooruit is a space typically used for musical rehearsals within the resident program of VIERNULVIER. In the context of the collaboration with Club Wintercircus, this space will be equipped with a 360° immersive sound system, aimed at the preproduction of immersive A/V shows for Club Wintercircus.
MOKABON
The Mokabon in De Vooruit - not to be confused with the legendary coffee shop at the Ghent Korenmarkt - is one of the spaces on the upper floors of the rear building of De Vooruit, with a view of the Scheldt and Woodrow Wilson Square. This space is typically used as a rehearsal room within the resident program of VIERNULVIER, but can also be used as a break-out room during larger events and conferences.
ANTIEKZOLDER
The Antiekzolder - which translates as "Antiques Attic" - of De Vooruit is one of the spaces on the upper floors of the rear building of De Vooruit, with a view of the Scheldt and Woodrow Wilson Square. This space is typically used as a rehearsal room within the resident program of VIERNULVIER, but can also be used as a break-out room during larger events and conferences.
