In the autumn of 2026, 'Writing, The Other Life', a collection of personal texts by Annie Ernaux (1940) that have not been available in Dutch before, will be published. Ernaux is one of the most important French writers of the moment. In the book, she provides a razor-sharp depiction of her own life. All her major areas of interest are also covered: memories, her youth in Normandy, her mother, love and sex, travel, her sources of inspiration, and her social engagement.

'Writing, The Other Life' will be the focus on November 5 during a special evening at De Vooruit with writer Annelies Verbeke, cultural sociologist Rudi Laermans, and essayist Steffie Vanneste. Translator Rokus Hofstede will explain why Ernaux's work is so special. Actress Kristien De Proost will read the short story 'Hotel Casanova'. The host of the evening is performance artist Sofie Bussé.
