Smut is literature written to turn the reader on. But in this creative writing workshop, we experiment with the paradox of asexual smut — “asexual” not as an identity, but as an aesthetic. Is this kind of smut discovering pleasure in the unspectacular? Would its narratives lead shamelessly nowhere? Are its authors indifferent to their readers? Do its protagonists discover abundance in what others call abstinence?

Against the expectation of narrative climax, we linger in hesitation, interruption, and quiet intensity. We'll write scenes that are hot precisely because they never become explicit - texts that are nasty in their refusal to seduce, satisfy, resolve.

Slutty prudes and prudish sluts: bring your favorite pens and notebooks! No prior experience is required. Writing prompts, inspirational input, tea and cookies will be provided.
