Roel Steeno has been warming up venues and TV studios for others for years, but outside the spotlight, Roel, like everyone else, has his hobbies. For example, reading Google reviews.

During corona, he briefly considered a career as a grave digger and even ventured into poetry. And he has a special talent: seeing beauty where others mainly see ugliness. Like in his yellow Fiat Multipla.

Roel Steeno also knows what it feels like to be at the bottom of the ladder, to be the target of ridicule, the punching bag, the scapegoat. It all started at school: “Ugly redhead!!!”. He repeated his first year of secondary school three times, lost Humo's Comedy Cup five times, and had to compete in De Slimste Mens against an 18-year-old.

From that perspective, he tells his story. About failing, persevering... and the big question: is he really a redhead?

Eerder trok Roel als straatacteur door Europa. Hij speelde in tv-reeksen als Flikken, Witse en Vermist, meestal in de rol van ‘de slechterik’. Daarnaast bouwde hij een carrière uit als stand-up comedian. Het grote publiek leerde hem écht kennen toen hij in 2025 deelnam aan De Slimste Mens ter Wereld. Wat begon als een inside joke - de publieksopwarmer die plots zelf kandidaat wordt - eindigde pas in de finale. Vandaag brengt Roel al die ervaring samen: timing, improvisatie en een feilloos gevoel voor publiek. Of hij nu een zaal opwarmt of zelf in de spotlights staat, één ding is zeker: als Roel er staat, is het nooit lang wachten op de eerste lach.
