Kathleen Depoorter

Kathleen Depoorter obtained her master's degree in pharmacy from Ghent University in 1994. She also completed an additional training program at Vlerick Business School. She started working as a pharmacist in 1994, with pharmacies in Ghent and Evergem.

In 2010, Depoorter became a board member of the N-VA department in Evergem. In the municipal elections of October 2012, she was elected for the first time as a municipal councilor for the N-VA in her hometown Evergem. She immediately joined the college of mayor and aldermen and became alderman for finance and budget, public health, local economy, international cooperation, and animal welfare, a position she has held continuously since January 2013.

From 2017 to 2018, Depoorter was also a provincial councilor for East Flanders.

Kathleen Depoorter was elected as a member of the Chamber of Representatives for the electoral district of East Flanders in the elections of May 26, 2019. As a parliament member, she served on the Health Committee and was a substitute member of the Foreign Relations Committee. Her activities mainly focused on policies related to public health, including healthcare, pharmaceutical policy, drug prevention, taxation, and development cooperation. In June 2024, Depoorter was re-elected.
