NAH 'Totally Recalled'

DRUMMER-PRODUCER NAH RETURNS WITH NEW ALBUM ‘TOTALLY RECALLED’

’Totally Recalled’ is a ceremonial sonic rumination on the beautiful absurdity of modern life and its primitive impulses

Prolific musician and visual artist NAH (US / BE) presents ‘Totally Recalled’, a new album set for release on March 15. The record will be available on Vinyl LP via VIERNULVIER Records and digital via NAH’s own Difficult Sounds.

Across 10 tracks of relentlessly pulsing yet highly reflective works, ‘Totally Recalled’ continues NAH’s never-ending exploration of the balance between acoustic and synthetic percussion and the noisy overlapping genre intersections they pass through.

It pulls upon years of NAH’s experiences in dark clubs and grimy basements across the globe to present the listener with an audio snapshot of the genre-less alternate reality that NAH continues to traverse.

‘Totally Recalled’ is a listening experience that serves well at home, submerged in headphones, but ultimately meant to be witnessed live in all its decibel meter breaking glory.

To enhance ‘Totally Recalled’ on a visual level, NAH has developed a new live AV show of the same title with dates at CTM Festival (Berlin), Melkweg (Amsterdam), Out The Frame (Ghent), We Are Open (Antwerp) and many more.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

For over a decade, NAH has created music that explores the percussive sonic fringe between genres. By tastefully blending sounds and attitudes across noise, jazz, punk, hip hop, dark electronic music, and sci-fi-esque ambient compositions, he has continued to discover unheard musical possibilities. ‘Totally Recalled’ is a confident artifact of his emotive sonic journey and sure-footed technical abilities. On ‘Totally Recalled’, his capacity for honesty and experimentation is on full display. NAH has created a mature album that trashes the notion that maturity equals rigidity. A drum style both propulsive and impressionistic creates its foundation, allowing textural, freaked-out samples and synths to melt into the space around it. With each of its 10 tracks, it lures the listener through its haunted, undiscovered, and beat-flooded caverns. Pummeling and submerging them to the point of hallucination with heavy tides of sound, only to pull them back to the surface to be rewarded with the occasional tranquil, reflective ambient passage. ‘Totally Recalled’ is the work of an artist that reaches a higher peak with every release, a producer expertly skilled at building tension and making the off kilter seem familiar. To enhance Totally Recalled on a visual level, NAH has developed a new live AV show of the same title. A head-tripping adventure full of metaphorical visual reflections on experiencing life as an expat and artist outside of his homeland. A visual counterpart that addresses the confusion, disconnection, narcissism, anxiety and fear that pervades the Americanized modern experience. Raw, dirty, and loud. Maybe just like where he comes from?

ABOUT NAH

Since the release of his first demos in 2011, percussionist, sound manipulator and visual artist, NAH has been developing his own dynamic synthesis of textured noise and genre smashing percussive rhythms with firm roots planted in DIY punk, noise, avant jazz, electronic music and the restlessness of hip-hop. Performing live with little more than a drum kit and various samplers, he channels a frenetic energy that teeters on the edge of violent hostility and playful chaos. Recent years have found him collaborating with artists such as Wiki, Mike, Moor Mother, Slauson Malone, Iggor Cavalera, Evicshen, Cities Aviv, Obongjayar and many more.
