Angolan-Portuguese artist Pongo, the voice of “Wegue Wegue”, the track that instantly brings you back to summer, is coming to Club Wintercircus. New music, same infectious vibe.

Pongo is an Angolan singer, songwriter and performer, widely recognised as one of the most distinctive voices of the new generation of global contemporary music. Born in Luanda and based in Lisbon since the age of eight, after emigrating as a child, her journey reflects a strong connection between identity, culture and resilience.

At 16, as the vocalist of Buraka Som Sistema, she gained international recognition by writing and performing the hit “Kalemba (Wegue Wegue)”, her striking voice driving her global breakthrough and cementing her connection to the worlds of kuduro and electronic music.

Today, Pongo stands as one of the leading artists in Afro-fusion. From sold-out shows across Europe, marked by intense energy, to her standout performance on COLORSxSTUDIOS, she has established herself as one of the most innovative voices in contemporary African pop.

Following this breakthrough, she built a solid and distinctive solo career, defined by a fusion of traditional Angolan sounds with a contemporary approach that blends electronic music, Afrobeats and global pop.

In 2020, she received the Music Moves Europe Talent Award, consolidating her position as one of the most promising European artists of her generation. In 2024, she was nominated for African Artist of the Year at the Kora Awards with her album Sakidila, while the track “Kuzola” was featured on the FIFA 23 soundtrack.

Since then, she has performed on stages worldwide, standing out for her powerful live energy and a unique artistic identity that bridges tradition and modernity.
