TROY (LAZARUS for beginners)
The Greeks: the foundation of Western storytelling. The foundation of a worldview, too. War, war, and more war. Revenge, revenge, and more revenge. Toxic males, clever and submissive females, the gods… and the sacrifices they demand. The basis to start with. The point of departure. But did we ever actually depart? And aren't we still those same beginners? What on earth did we get ourselves into? And if we left, where were we heading?

LAZARUS is turning twenty!

We didn't really see that coming ourselves. Growing older happens by accident—much like losing your hair and your teeth. But after 34 creations and many hundreds of performances, it is time to look back, look ahead, and look sideways. And what do we see? Young actors and theater makers longing for a place on the stage, eager to make their voices heard. That is why we are creating this production with eight twenty-somethings from four different drama academies.

An exchange, a cross-pollination, a theatrical meeting of passions, inspirations, aspirations, obsessions, and demons. Greedily grabbing from the barrel of our sources, we build—in dialogue with these "young dogs"—a new universe. A theater world of our own, where deep questions, existential madness, self-mockery, and the pure joy of performing form the foundation.
