Where queerness meets tradition, this is a space of tenderness, creativity, and shared roots. A place to move together to collective rhythms and explore identity in all its shades. A Moussem is a place of joy and celebration, where fantasia takes over during the day, and the voices of cheikhates illuminate
the night in private tents, where bodies move freely and souls are intoxicated with joy. It is another kind of Féria, a communal rehearsal of what truly happy days could look like, where freedom, pleasure, and
music intertwine.
It is a return to what connects us: the lands that shaped us, the stories we carry, the warmth of village nights, and the sounds that still move through us. Through conversations, dance workshops, and tailored drag performances honoring cheikhates, complemented by DJ sets highlighting ethnic genres such as Aita, Reggada, Mezwed, and others, all blended with electro, early 2000s pop, and live acts bringing the spirit of Marrakech’s iconic Jamaa el-Fnaa performers to the stage, we gather to honor the past while fully inhabiting the present.
We aim to explore queerness in all its 1001 forms, celebrating it as never before, using the stage and legacy of a historic arts venue like Viernulvier to open new ways of celebrating Arab queerness and
heritage. This Queer Moussem is an act of reclamation: reclaiming what was once taken from us as queer people. It is both a journey through memory and a celebration of the now, a moment to dream of a future where our
communities thrive with pride and tenderness, where love stands at the heart of it all, like a radiant day of Moussem.
