Literary get-together on Tuesday evening

On Tuesday, October 27, Ibe Rossel, Jan Dertaelen and Bent Van Looy will join presenter Ruth Joos. Together, they will discuss three books, carefully selected by our editorial team.

Connie Palmen - 'Johnnie Walker'

Don't let the title mislead you. In 'Johnnie Walker' - the new novel by Connie Palmen - whisky isn't the main subject. It rather deals with Palmens struggle with alcohol addiction, as well as the complex relationship with her family, her mother, and her grandmother. 'Johnnie Walker' immediately conquered the Dutch bestseller list. Palmen is one of the greatest authors in the Dutch-speaking area. Her previous novel 'Jij zegt het' (2015) was awarded the Libris Literature Prize.

"Connie Palmen possesses the rare talent to write sharply and passionately about philosophy, love, and friendship in concise language. With a quirky voice and fearless intellect, she reflects on existential questions about being human and consistently manages to touch and inspire readers. Both her work and her public appearances testify to her unconditional loyalty to literature." - Jury Constantijn Huygens Prize 2026

Madeline Cash - 'Lost Lambs'

A satirical, funny, and sharp debut about an extravagant family. 'Lost Lambs' tells the story of three sisters who live with their parents in a nondescript village near a port city. Madeline Cash weaves a hefty dose of humor and tenderness into her successful debut novel.

"Lost Lambs by Madeline Cash is perhaps the most hyped novel of 2026. Read it and you'll understand why. [...] It has everything: a dysfunctional family, a bloodthirsty billionaire, conspiracy theories, online radicalization, a lice plague, and, at its core, a quest for identity and meaning. [...] It's funny, fast-paced, and captivating. Believe the hype." – Dua Lipa

Marek Šindelka - 'Systems of Tenderness'

Czech author Marek Šindelka wrote a tender and fragile portrait with 'Systems of Tenderness'. It tells the story of a very young, successful concert pianist searching for her equally talented father. A novel about music, machines, and melody.
