Fenne Kuppens + Laura De Jongh

PALMARIUM 2026
Democrazy & VIERNULVIER & GUM
  • Thu 25.06
    19:00 - 22:00
    Plantentuin, Gent
    Palmarium

Whispering Sons frontwoman Fenne Kuppens performs solo, but with piano and cello; and Antwerp harpist Laura De Jongh moves from accompaniment to leadership, guiding us toward meandering music in which to get lost

The final event in this concert series celebrates two home-grown talents.
Having already won over the country with her captivating performance with Whispering Sons,
Brussels-based Fenne Kuppens is just as convincing as a solo artist, but with a quieter, more economical approach. However, there is no skimping on melody, which is conjured up on the piano and cello for the occasion.

Antwerp harpist Laura De Jongh completes the evening. In her own music, she strives for compositions without a strict end goal, but with stops along the way at ambient and new age, with a suitcase full of field recordings at hand. Tranquility and beauty, a promising finale to one of our favorite concert series.

The PALMARIUM concert series brings seven evenings of music to the beautiful Botanical Garden of the Ghent University Museum. This series is a collaboration between VIERNULVIER, Democrazy & GUM.

Brussels singer and lyricist Fenne Kuppens, frontwoman of Whispering Sons and known for her captivating performances, raw vocals, and poetic lyrics, now finds her own voice in silence and restraint. With her solo work, she breaks new ground and presents music imbued with honesty. Accompanied live by piano and cello.

Laura De Jongh is an Antwerp harpist who, starting from a classical background, creates her own sound world. She explores the tension between natural acoustics and electronically distorted sound.

After many years of serving as a sought-after harpist in various constellations and genres, Laura De Jongh shares an intimate glimpse into what sounds like the ‘third space’ of her daily life, in the form of meandering compositions. She teaches us that music does not always have to go somewhere, prove something, or serve someone, but can instead simply be and exist, floating stoically in the midst of a burning world, imperturbable and at the same time receptive to all
who wish to attend her serene universe.

Her debut EP ‘Fundus’ was released in 2025 by Klankhaven Records and moves between ambient, new age and field recordings. It was named number 1 in the list of his 350 favorite albums of 2025 by Thurston Moore, musician, writer and co-founder of Sonic Youth.
