“Do you expect me to talk?”
“No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to SING!”

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of 'Casino Royale', a diverse group of Belgian artists will pay a unique tribute to the film music of the James Bond universe. 12 artists have each chosen one Bond theme song to cover—some sticking close to the original, others taking a more unrecognizable approach.

Expect everything from stripped-down piano versions and unconventional Dutch-language covers to moody electronics, and who knows what else. Find more information about all participating artists below.

Afterwards, we will celebrate the closing party of Videodroom and Film Fest Gent in our café and ballroom, featuring a packed lineup of live performances and DJs, all completely in Bond theme.

Aili & Orson

Aili & Orson is the Belgian-Japanese electropop duo consisting of Aili Maruyama and Orson Wouters. After the success of their debut album Nandakke?, Aili & Orson are now ready for the next chapter in their story with their second album, set to be released in early 2027.  They create a colorful universe where language barriers melt into danceable energy. Their playfulness and boundless energy continue to build a unique musical universe. Anyone who has seen them live knows that their world never disappoints.

An Pierlé

An Pierlé has become a household name. With nearly 25 years of songs under her belt, her concerts are a personal “Best Of,” reinvented in the moment. An emotional journey of a singer who remains true to herself, with a voice that seeps into the heart and soul. And there is especially a lot of warmth. Musical generosity. Playing with maturity and a young heart. The unique world she creates effortlessly withstands the test of time; the themes prove to be transportable and transcendent, and her loyal audience has grown alongside her.

Bert Dockx

Bert Dockx is one of the most unique and passionate musicians of recent years: as the linchpin of the five-member Flying Horseman, as one-third of the highly praised Dans Dans, and as the driving force behind Ottla. He has rapidly released a series of impressive albums, unanimously praised by the press, and has repeatedly confirmed his strong live reputation on stages both at home and abroad.

David Numwami

“That magical phenomenon called pop music.” We don't always realize the impact a good pop song can have on us. David Numwami understands that well. In fact, he plans to evoke, study, edit, and create that impact. Determined to honor the legacy of the timeless popular genre, the Brussels multi-instrumentalist positions himself as the new romantic of French-speaking pop. Numwami keeps the ear amused and disguises the complex as simple thanks to the familiar pop codes, which have matured and refined – led by David's extreme meticulousness.

Dushime

Dushime, a versatile Belgian-Rwandan artist, embraces a multidisciplinary approach that includes music, storytelling, and performance. With her authentic and powerful style, she views performances and music as a healing process, using her voice as a versatile instrument to create different textures. Her goal is to saturate a space with stories, sounds, and textures, aiming to be a portal that connects people through harmonious sounds and flowing movements, weaving a luminous glow that fosters an invisible thread of connection.

Gustaph

With Because Of You - which has already been streamed over 23 million times on Spotify - Gustaph placed seventh at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023. Since then, things have been moving quickly. A series of successful singles followed: Already Know, Calls Your Name, Faith In What You Feel, Really Mine, and Like You. No less than 3 of these singles were nominated for the Radio 2 Zomerhit. “Sometimes I still wonder how all this happened,” Gustaph shares. “Because I’m not someone you typically see in mainstream media, and yet there is a place for me, which I find very nice.”

Helena Casella

Helena Casella is a Belgian-Brazilian composer and singer who grew up in a very musical family. In her music, she explores various genres such as R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop, modern jazz, and Brazilian rhythms, processing these influences in her own way. Thus, Helena expresses her thoughts and daydreams. Her music offers personal and relatable stories and touches the audience on both an emotional and intellectual level. Her vocal reflections showcase a mix of familiar rhythms and harmonies, combined with elegant, unexpected variations. She passionately conveys this with a soft yet intense voice.

Iskander Moon

With ‘Are You Lost Here?’ (2026), Iskander Moon delivered an impressive business card last year. The EP put him on the map in his home country as one of the most authentic musicians of his generation, and the response was accordingly: a lot of airplay, a beautiful series of sold-out shows, and well-received festival performances at, among others, Live /s Live and Dranouter. Additionally, stages in Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Sweden were explored. His background in classical piano, composing, and being a bassist and singer in various rock projects contributes to an indie alternative sound and a richly orchestrated album.

Johannes Is Zijn Naam

Johannes Verschaeve, former frontman of The Van Jets, has plunged into a new universe with his solo project Johannes Is Zijn Naam, somewhere between David Lynch and Tien om te Zien. In his universe unfolds an idiosyncratic mix of music, performance, atmosphere, and lyrics. In his eponymous debut album, he was still a lonely character, but now with his second album Contact, he steps out of his cocoon. He cracks the door open and slowly steps outside. Dutch-language dream pop and a battery of synths and rhythm boxes of which he doesn’t know all the buttons. Theatrical and banal, funny and vulnerable, that is what we hear from Johannes Is Zijn Naam.

maya dhondt

maya dhondt is trained as a classical pianist and is currently active in the music, performance, and theater world as a versatile performer and musician. She creates intuitively fragmented music, blending genres, sounds, and languages into what has been described as a postmodern mixture of glitch-pop and contemporary piano music. Her music is an intuitive and never-ending exploration that has the potential to be and become a multitude of things at once, as she explores the boundaries of her voice, her piano, and twisted electronics.

Uma Chine

Uma Chine is the Ghent-Brussels band around the voices of Nele De Gussem with Rana and Sherien Holail Mohamed. Their music crystallizes in a dreamy no-man's land of ethereal synths and airy harmonies, somewhere between Beach House and Angelo ‘Twin Peaks’ Badalamenti. Uma Chine performs "You Only Live Twice" by Nancy Sinatra in a stripped-down acoustic trio version, carried by three voices that merge, collide, and circle around each other.

Youniss

The Antwerp-based multidisciplinary artist Youniss Ahamad behaves like a quantum particle that constantly resists categorization and comprehensibility. His live performances at festivals such as Rewire, Roadburn, and Les Nuits Botanique have earned him recognition as a musical fire-eater who blends post-punk, hip-hop, and noise. Ahamad's unique journey in the Belgian underground is influenced by his ancestral roots in Ivory Coast and Iraq. His experiences as a Black boy with an Arabic name growing up in the suburbs of Antwerp inspired White Space from 2023 – an album that marks a shift from intellectual dance music to distorted, experimental narratives.
