    19:00 - 22:00
    Plantentuin, Gent
    Palmarium

On this Palmarium evening, the greenhouse becomes a blickwinkel.
The Ghent label picked two experimentalists from their roster for
an evening of melodic electronica and textured accordion playing
with L. Jacobs and Suzan Peeters.

Blickwinkel is a Belgian record label dedicated to experimental music, founded by Jelle Martens and Pieter Dudal. For Palmarium 2026, they invite L. Jacobs and Suzan Peeters for an evening of experimental yet melodic electronic music and experimental accordion that playfully commemorates the warm resonances of the instrument.

The records released by Blickwinkel are true works of art, translating the music into visual experiments. In this way, the musical universe of the artists is complemented, and the existing experiment becomes even more experimental through this dialogue. For Peeters' ‘Cassotto’, for example, Jelle Martens took enchanting photos of blurry, sepia-washed hands and abstract compositions of ink on paper. A testament to the enchanting sounds that are both familiar and close, yet force you to look (and listen) at her instrument differently.

This is just one example of why this perspective is worth a visit. Who knows, you might even find a work of art for your own home during Palmarium.

The PALMARIUM concert series brings seven evenings of music to the beautiful Botanical Garden of the Ghent University Museum. This series is a collaboration between VIERNULVIER, Democrazy & GUM.

Lennert Jacobs creates experimental yet melodic electronic music under the name L. Jacobs. His debut album ‘Enthusiasm’ was released in 2021 via Les Albums Claus x W.E.R.F. Records, followed by performances at festivals such as Pukkelpop, Wunderkammer, Sonic City, and Microfestival, as well as venues such as Les Ateliers Claus and De Koer, and a series of British support shows for Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul. His new album ‘Behind The Great Curve’, produced by Milan W., will be released on the 10th of April 2026 by blickwinkel.

In addition to his solo work, Jacobs is a member of the idiosyncratic band The Germans, the experimental jazz group MDC III, and the improvisation collective cUNST. He has previously played with Public Psyche, Vermin Twins, and Hong Kong Dong, among others.

Suzan Peeters (°1999) is a Belgian accordionist, composer, and experimentalist. She is constantly searching for new timbres and sound textures within the accordion and pushes the boundaries of the acoustic spectrum by playing with the interaction between her body and that of her instrument.

On the 10th of October, Peeters released her debut album ‘Cassotto’ on the Belgian label blickwinkel. The title refers to the ‘cassotto’ – a small sound box in the accordion that warms, softens, and deepens the sound. While the cassotto chamber naturally gives the accordion a soft and velvety sound, Peeters uses that warmth to explore extremes – from muted details to bold, expansive gestures that fill the space.

Her live performances have earned her international renown, combining accordion, electronics, and unconventional objects such as a massage board into a compelling whole in which contrasts come together in unexpected ways.
