In dit panelgesprek verweven we voedsel, roots en diaspora-gemeenschappen. We dagen ideeën uit over hoe identiteit, betrokkenheid en dagelijkse praktijken samenkomen binnen voedselsystemen met sociale rechtvaardigheid. 

Philsan Osman 

Philsan Osman (zij/haar) is een student, schrijver, en community builder. Ze studeert Afrikaanse Talen en Culturen aan de Universiteit Gent. Daarnaast is ze actief bij zowel Black History Month Belgium als het online feministische magazine Spijker Magazine en co-auteur van het essay Voor Wie Willen We Zorgen? Ecofeminisme als inspiratiebron (Epo 2021).

Mahécor

Voor wie hem nog niet kent... Mahécor is geboren en opgegroeid in een grote familie van landbouwers, in het Westen van Afrika, meer bepaald in Senegal. Al van in zijn jeugd is hij gepassioneerd door de aarde en alles wat de natuur ons brengt.
 In het begin van zijn professionele loopbaan in België heeft hij verschillende beroepen uitgeoefend. Gedurende die jaren bleef zijn fascinatie voor de aarde en zijn liefde voor de natuur bestaan.
         
Vele jaren heeft hij groenten geteeld en geëxperimenteerd in zijn moestuin thuis. Elk jaar deelde hij de overvloedige oogsten met zijn buren.In 2018 besliste hij zich in te schrijven voor een opleiding in de biologische groenteteelt. Hij interesseert zich sterk in de permacultuur omwille van de biodiverse aanpak. Hij teelt zijn groenten met respect voor de grond en het milieu.Mahécor zijn droom is lekkere, mooie en gezonde groenten te telen die niet behandeld worden.  

Tumba

Tumba (they/them) is a performer, facilitator and organiser using the potency of poetry to create spaces of grounded reflection. On and off the stage, Tumba aims to be a walking offering, a resilient reminder to breathe, and return our sorrows back to the soil. Believing in the healing power of collective ritual, they use guided meditation, breathwork and movement as a way of holding, molding and creating space. Throughout Tumba’s practice, the common thread connecting everything is woven from vulnerable reflection, the magical metaphors hidden in (our) nature, and the shared prayer to be seen for who we are.  

Tumba is planting seeds and growing community with Back2SoilBasics, a collective seeking to make the philosophy of permaculture accessible to marginalized communities in and around Brussels through urban interventions. This translates into workshops, participatory design, collective cooking sessions, foraging, and much more. B2SB holds the belief that finding connection with nature is a portal to a more loving and living society
