Sofie Lemaire
Artiest
Sofie Lemaire studied Word Art at the Herman Teirlinck Institute in Antwerp. She then started working at Studio Brussel, first as a sidekick (on The Great Peter Vande Veire Morning Show) and later as a presenter of programs such as De Wereld van Sofie, Spelen met Sofie and Vrienden van de Radio.
When the new channel Vier launched, Sofie made the transition to television. At production house Woestijnvis, she contributed to The Kruitfabriek and developed the panel program Bloot en Speren, which won the award for Best Comedy Format at the International Format Awards in Cannes. After a few years, she returned to the public broadcaster to create Culture Club and Meer Vrouw Op Straat. For several years now, she has been a regular presence on Radio 1 with De Wereld van Sofie, a programme that has been nominated multiple times for media awards (Kastaars!, Oorkonde DS Podcastfestival) and was awarded a Belgian Podcast Award last year. Her other podcast Snelle Geschiedenis (VRT MAX) received a successful book translation. Sofie herself was honored with the Martine Tanghe Public Award for outstanding language use.
