Seppe
Stage management
Meet Seppe, who started working at VIERNULVIER as a stage master in September 2024, specializing in lighting in video. Previously, he worked freelance for various renowned theater companies and as a lighting technician in the events world. It's time to get to know him better!
“My passion for theater began with an amateur company, where I played my first role as Pinocchio as a child. While I was on stage, my eye was drawn to the technical team and the lighting. From that moment on, I knew: this is something for me!"
Seppe studied stage techniques for two years in Ostend and combined that with volunteer work as a stage technician. This was followed by a three-year bachelor's degree in theater technology at RITCS in Brussels and a special experience at Rose Bruford College in London, where he realized his first major lighting design. Eagerly, he ventured into the world as a theater technician, both nationally and internationally.
“As a stage master, it is my job to ensure everything runs smoothly. The groups are very diverse, each with their own desires and expectations, which we expertly fulfill with our team. My task is to make a performance possible as the company wishes, and sometimes my skills as a lighting designer and freelancer come in handy. I know exactly what it feels like to arrive as a touring technician in an unfamiliar venue.” This allows him to perfectly anticipate the wishes and needs of the guest technicians, not just on a technical level.
At VIERNULVIER, Seppe feels completely at home: "We are ten technicians, and everyone has their own passion and specialty. We support each other and divide the work based on our talents and wishes, which leads to a pleasant collaboration."
What is the most challenging aspect of his job? “Keeping an overview of multiple productions at the same time. When the audience and the company are enthusiastic and everything runs smoothly, I know why I do this. That gives me a lot of satisfaction."
