This is Karen! Since April last year, Karen has officially been the Ticketing Coordinator. Karen started in 2022 as a volunteer at the reception, but has now become indispensable. Let's get to know her a little better!
Karen works happily on a mix of co-productions with Democrazy, music performances, Club Wintercircus, external and in-house stage productions. She ensures clear agreements, handles complaints, and coordinates everything regarding rescheduling or refunds for canceled concerts. She also stands at the counter every Friday, together with colleagues Freija and Kathleen.
What does Karen enjoy most about her work? “Giving away guest tickets” (laughs). “I manage the guest lists and often get to distribute tickets. But what really makes it enjoyable are my colleagues. The teams I work with, both in Ticketing and in the Communication Team, are as warm as they are impressive.”
Of course, there are challenges too. Last-minute requests, especially from the music and nightlife world, are a tough part of her job. “Sometimes you get asked the night before to put an event on sale the next day. You just make it happen. Often the information is incomplete and there are doubts about prices, which doesn’t always make it straightforward,” Karen explains.
What does the future hold? When Karen thinks about VIERNULVIER in ten years, she hopes for a fully accessible and renovated building. Her favorite memories are hard to choose. The cozy evenings in the Café, the team building in Amsterdam, and the season opening in the Zuidpark are high on her list. A special moment was walking with hall manager Sven during Kim Gordon's concert. “An intense but super fun evening.”
And her favorite spot? Without a doubt, the coffee machine in the offices. “That’s where you meet everyone and can have a chat." "A nice way to start the day!”
Finally, Karen is looking forward to the performance ‘Sun & Sea’ in June. “A concert hall full of sand and an opera," it will be a unique experience. The complete experience and impressive construction make it something to really look forward to!”
