Artiest

Farida Amadou is a self-taught musician. Through the deep vibrations of her electric bass, she explores the relationship between body, resonance and space, allowing repetition, texture and improvisation to unfold into states of trance. She draws on genres such as blues, jazz, hip hop, experimental and free improvisation, and is known for extracting expressive and unusual sounds from her bass without compromising musicality. She has collaborated with artists such as Peter Brötzmann, Thurston Moore, Moor Mother, Linda Sharrock and Marc Ribot. She continues to tour and work on new albums, while exploring audiovisual performance and organizing community-based workshops.
