Meer dan 5.000 mensen namen een kijkje in De Vooruit tijdens 'Open House'
We don't know exactly how many of you visited last Sunday during our 'Open House', but you were thousands, of all ages and backgrounds. This is yet another proof that the iconic building holds a place in the hearts of many people from Ghent and culture lovers far beyond.
We have known for a long time that De Vooruit resonates with many generations of Ghent residents, but to be honest, we did not expect such a response at the end of the renovation works. You all came this week en masse to one of the numerous performances during the housewarming week, or yesterday to our Open House. All day long, our brand new elevator was hoisting people to the top floor, after which they strolled back down through the many freshly painted halls, corridors, and staircases. Along the way, various performances, talks, video installations, a T-Dansant, a real photo studio, and a shiny new stained glass ceiling awaited. At the end of the route, the café was working overtime in sixth gear.
What a day! What a wonderful start to this new chapter for a monument in more than one sense of the word.
