Do you make the best vegan banana bread in Ghent? Surprise our jury and win a unique work of art!

During the Kiemkracht festival on Saturday 28 February, Mexican artist Dodi Espinosa will be exhibiting his work inspired by bananas.

Did you know that there are around a thousand different varieties of banana? We usually eat the same variety, but if you take a look around smaller shops that sell African or Asian food, you will find other varieties too.

Together with artist Dodi, we are curious to find out who can make the best plant-based banana bread in Ghent. Do you feel inclined to do so? Take up the challenge and you might be crowned by our professional jury: Olly Ceulenaere (Restaurant Publiek), Laura Verhulst (Madam Bakster) and Kevin Storms (Restaurant Dirt).

How can you participate?

Bring your vegan banana bread to the reception desk at De Vooruit on Friday 27 February between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Only the first 25 will be in the running for the title!

The jury will make its decision on Saturday 28 February at 10 a.m. in the VIERNULVIER Café.

Bring your friends and family!

The winner will receive a work of art by Mexican artist Dodi Espinosa and your recipe will be featured on the VIERNULVIER Café menu for a week.

Please note: you must be present at the judging to win.

All participants will receive a free festival ticket for Kiemkracht on Saturday 28 February.

KIEMKRACHT is a stimulating festival for mouth, stomach, and land, that invites you to seek a new, imaginative relationship with our food. On Saturday 28 February at De Vooruit and at various locations, we playfully challenge you to think critically about what you eat.

We bring together thinkers and doers: farmers, chefs, artists, scientists, and activists. Together we create new, hopeful stories. This time with a focus on seeds.
