VIDEODROOM programmer Wouter Vanhaelemeesch talks to Elisa De Schepper about ‘The Juniper Tree’.

De Schepper is the coordinator of KASKcinema, with a background in film studies at Ghent University and stints at Film Fest Gent, Courtisane, Xcentric Cinema in Barcelona and the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley. From an early age, Elisa De Schepper has had a lasting fascination with music, singing and vocals, in addition to her love of film.

In this conversation, they delve into “The Juniper Tree”, Nietzchka Keene's enchanting 1991 film based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name. They explore the allegorical power of the film, which depicts both historical and contemporary misogyny.
