There are more than 370 (!) rooms in De Vooruit. But what are they all for? Why and when was it built? What do the towers look like from the inside? And who created that gigantic drawing on the side wall?
You will discover it all on a guided tour through this beautiful protected monument. During this tour, you will find yourself in places that visitors usually do not access: backstage, rehearsal rooms, the attic, and of course the picturesque little tower, which offers a stunning view of the city. An experienced guide will lead you i through the turbulent history of one of the most iconic buildings in Ghent.
The building is had several successive careful renovations. Meanwhile, De Vooruit has been shortlisted to become a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The most recent renovation dates from 2025-2026, during which the front building was addressed. The rooms (colors, elements) were restored to their condition from 1913, the time of the building's construction.
