Drift along with the 24-part seasonal system.

With Winterspring/Summerfall, Dutch multi-instrumentalist Eelco Topper, better known as Felbm, presents his most layered and luminous work to date. The album is a natural continuation of his earlier releases Elements of Nature and cycli infini, which focus on his fascination with nature, time and cyclical processes. This time, Felbm explores these themes in greater depth through Nijūshi-sekki, the Japanese 24-part seasonal system that marks the subtle transitions in nature.

While reading about the Japanese tea ceremony, Felbm came across this ancient calendar, which distinguishes not four but twenty-four seasonal moments. Fascinated by the poetry of these natural markers, he decided to start living according to Nijūshi-sekki for a full year from November 2022. He observed clouds, weather patterns, plants and animals, kept a diary and collected musical ideas that slowly merged into Winterspring/Summerfall.

During this live performance, Felbm brings the album to life with a trio of contrabass, piano and flute and invites the listener to float along to the rhythm of the seasons, or in the words of Henriëtte Roland Holst: to listen to “the silence of nature, which knows many sounds”.

La Zza Ro is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, balancing between ambient and intuitive songwriting. She interweaves abstract poetry, experimental folk and raw noise through tape, loops and ethereal vocals. In addition to her solo work, she is active in the bands Zemlya and Sergeant, but also hosts Unburdened Bones on Kiosk Radio.

The PALMARIUM concert series brings seven evenings of music to the beautiful Botanical Garden of the Ghent University Museum. This series is a collaboration between VIERNULVIER, Democrazy & GUM.

Felbm is the music project of Dutch multi-instrumentalist Eelco Topper. Since his debut in 2018, he has been creating instrumental compositions that blend acoustic and electronic sounds. His work is praised internationally for its delicate balance between stillness and movement, with nature and its cycles as a constant source of inspiration. With his most recent album winterspring/summerfall, he translates the Japanese 24-part seasonal system of Nijūshi-sekki into an 80-minute suite, performed live with double bass, piano and flute.
