Felicia Chen, aka Dis Fig, is a producer, performer, singer, and DJ who refuses to be placed in just one box. She started in the DIY noise scene of New York and found her place in the experimental electronic underground of Berlin. Her music combines crushing depth with vulnerability, carried by an expressive, acrobatic voice. Live, she is intensely physical and blurs the line between audience and artist.
Her critically acclaimed debut album PURGE (PTP) brings together noise, industrial, electronics, and melodic songwriting. She collaborated with The Bug on In Blue (Hyperdub), The Body on Orchards or a Futile Heaven (Thrill Jockey), and Asian Dope Boys, for whom she provided music and performances for the long-lasting, ritualistic works of Tianzhuo Chen.
She has been praised by outlets including The Guardian, The Wire, The Quietus, and NPR, and has performed at festivals such as CTM, Unsound, Rewire, Roadburn, Le Guess Who?, Dark Mofo, MIRA, and Nyege Nyege.
Seven years after PURGE, her second solo album, What To Make Of These Mortal Hands (Thrill Jockey), will be released on October 23: a cinematic work of 63 minutes about beauty and decay. For Club Wintercircus, she will translate the album to an immersive experience, filling every corner of the round hall with pure energy.
Support Karel Naessens abuses synthesizers and electronics into strange and inventive instrumental music, sounding like eroded recordings of a not-quite-human entity who wished to become a folk singer. Minimal avant-pop, cutting electronics and lonely landscapes with warped chorales, reaching for songs without words.
