Multi-instrumentalist and composer David ‘Dijf’ Sanders is known for his boundless, multicultural approach, which has earned him an impressive track record in recent years: collaborations with Warhaus, Sylvie Kreusch, Mattias De Craene's MDC III, and Wim Vandekeybus, in addition to strong solo work centered on adventure and imagination.
After Java (2017), recorded in Indonesia, Sanders turned his attention back to Asia. His trip to Nepal yielded field recordings and impressions that formed the basis for Puja (2020), a hypnotic album in which monk chants, mantra-like techno, and eclectic rhythms come together. Together with drummer Simon Segers, saxophonist Mattias De Craene, and sitar player Nicolas Mortelmans, this became a rich, ritualistic universe that comes to life as a trance-like trip when performed live.
The new album Tangkoa II (May 8, 2026, Unday Records) continues this journey of discovery. Inspired by Vietnam and other Asian influences, Sanders builds an organic electronic universe with Simon Segers, plus guest musicians such as Vitja Pauwels (guitar), Viktor Perdieu (sax) and Louise van den Heuvel (bass). Nothing is predetermined: samples, synths, and live effects form a living composition, in which improvisation, jazz, and trance rhythms merge into a hypnotic experience.
