Building Management
This is Thomas, a member of our Building Technology Team for 7 years! He is partly responsible for the daily maintenance of our monument.
He is in charge of all systems connected to the building, such as the lighting system, the alarm system, and the ventilation system. The green plant wall in the offices is also connected to this.
“We are always trying to connect the building with such systems so that we can quickly detect problems. Additionally, I handle all the orders for the team and maintain contacts with suppliers."
Thomas finds the variety one of the most enjoyable aspects of his job. “Every day is different and requires a different plan. If something goes wrong in the building, we spring into action immediately. It can sometimes be difficult to notice everything, but we do our best. I enjoy the social aspect of my job: I often come into contact with people, and the colleagues are very nice. There are many like-minded people here.”
The building technology team consists of five people, and Thomas enjoys working in a team because everyone has specific tasks. “We have a carpenter, two electricians, and two versatile technicians, one focusing on welding and plumbing; and the other handles doors and key management, among other things. Together, we can achieve a lot; for example, we renovated the pass-through kitchen in the Café and large parts of the Majolica ourselves. We also tackled the boxes of the Theater Hall and the Concert Hall. "The advantage of doing a lot ourselves is that you have control over the timing and quality of the work.”
Affinity with the building is very important to Thomas in his role. As a closing question, we asked him about his favorite spot. “My favorite place in the building is the Foyer of the Theater Hall. It is a beautiful and special space, especially because of its size and the balcony on the side. It's a pity that you can't host parties there. By the way, the new tables there were built by Maud from our team.”
