Hailing from Chicago, instrumental progressive metal outfit, Outrun the Sunlight, has been captivating audiences since 2011 thanks to their groovy textural sound. Inspired by the likes of The Contortionist, Cloudkicker and Caspian, the group has strived to combine strong soaring melodies, complex rhythms, and compelling dynamics into songs that elicit emotional and euphoric responses from the listener. Their newest album “A Vast Field of Silence” is no exception, and includes some of the band’s most ambitious yet mature writing to date, in a bombastic mix of grooves and scales. Their follow-up, a re-issue of their debut album, uniquely titled “The Return of Inertia 2.0” shows the bands heavier side, (a la early Animals as Leaders), while breathing new life into those same songs the band originate from.
