Johan de Boose

Johan de Boose (1962) is a doctor in Slavic studies and an avid traveler in Eastern Europe. He worked for theater, television, and radio. For 'De grensganger' (2006) he received the Henriette Roland Holst Prize and for 'De poppenspeler en de duivelin' (2009) the Culture Prize of the Province of East Flanders. His poetry collection 'Geheimen van Grzimek' (2010) was nominated for the Herman De Coninck Prize. In the spring of 2011, his novel 'Bloedgetuigen' was published. For this impressive work, De Boose received the Halewijn Prize. In 2013 and 2014, the novels 'Gaius' and 'Jevgeni' were published, which, along with the widely acclaimed novel 'Het vloethout' (2018, shortlist Libris Literature Prize), form a trilogy.
In 2020, 'Dondersteen' was published, a touching novel by a son about his father; a book about loneliness and kinship.
