Chris De Cock has obtained various master's degrees, including in aviation and military sciences, law, political science, public management, governance, security and defense, and international relations and diplomacy.
After his service in the Belgian Air Force, he held various positions, such as military instructor and legal advisor. He was head of the International Law Section and Operational Law Section, chief of staff of the chiefs of staff of the Ministry of Defense, and special advisor to the Director-General of the Legal Service of the Belgian Armed Forces.
As an associate professor and professor of law at the Royal Military Academy, he has developed expertise in international criminal law, law of armed conflict, and disarmament law. Colonel De Cock has been retired since July 1, 2023, and is currently a professor at the Free University of Brussels and Ghent University. He has participated in various operational deployments as a legal advisor and is actively involved with international institutions and universities.
