مُثَلَّث [mutallat]

A new program in the spirit of collaboration, cultural exchange & solidarity

مُثَلَّث [muṯallaṯ] is a collaboration between Arts Center Vooruit in Ghent, Khashabi Theatre in Haifa and the A. M. Qattan Foundation in Ramallah. With that project, the partners build a sustainable bridge between Flanders and Palestine, based on values of solidarity and cooperation.

The collaboration emerges from the Under Construction Festival that took place in Ghent and Ramallah in 2018, organised by Connexion vzw and the A. M. Qattan Foundation, presenting collaborations and connecting artists from Flanders and Palestine. The partners of [muṯallaṯ] want to build further on these connections and create sustainable relationships between artists from the two territories.

Artists from Ghent, Haifa and Ramallah are invited to meet during four events in 2020. These events are called Night Shift, a project developed by Gouvernement vzw, associated partner of مُثَلَّث [muṯallaṯ]. The Night Shifts will happen as such in Ramallah, Antwerp, Haifa and Ghent. In these contexts, artists are both invited to work together and present existing work.

ورديّة ليليّة  / Night Shift combines artists from different backgrounds and disciplines by offering them an artistic wild card as well as an eclectic, public platform which is part of an established art organisation. Via an informal setting and by evoking a creative playground, they are free to present projects ranging from finished and crossover projects to thrilling experiments and try-outs, while triggering new relations with the public.

In this long-running swirling program, the actions succeed each other swiftly, allow for new interpretations and meanings, ultimately adding multiple layers. From dazzling and subtle performances, through in situ activated interventions and installations, to other less categorizable events: the night shift is irreversible!

The initially selected artists are: Sarah Yu Zeebroek, Haitham Haddad, Nazir Jamal, Fidaa Zidan, Ilke Gers, Janes Zegers, Saalek and Emile Saba.
