New compositions for screen and more!

In what has become a tradition, we’re once again dedicating our October to VIDEODROOM, the annual dream date between VIERNULVIER Arts Centre and Film Fest Gent.

From 12 to 22 October, we’ll be dropping some unique audiovisual shows in your lap. Attendees of past years know to expect an intriguing mishmash of eclectic music and cult films. VIDEODROOM promises an exciting, alternative trip on the evenings of Film Fest Gent, from freshly-composed soundtracks to obscure films and one-of-a-kind audiovisual shows by the latest and greatest in electronic music.

"The name VIDEODROOM – Dutch for ‘video dream’ – can be taken quite literally this year. Almost every project has an inextricable link with the night or with dreams. Take ‘Carnival of Souls’ (1962), for example, which exudes a surreal, uncanny atmosphere from beginning to end. Its somewhat Lynchian tone will be boosted by the brand-new analogue synth soundtrack from Antwerp-based artist MIAUX. Then we go from the dreamy to the nightmarish with ‘Le Révélateur’ by Philippe Garrel, a controversial silent film from 1968, which jazz ensemble Bohren & the Club of Gore will accompany with their minimalist doom jazz.

But, happily, the night is a time that holds more than just doom and gloom. We’ve also lined up some uplifting and visionary electronica acts – Mathilde Fernandez, Promis3 and Use Knife, to name a few – each presenting their own, unique visual show."
