How music, sound & use of voice influences our way of moving

Music has an immense effect on us. When we listen to music, different parts of our brain get activated, especially those that provide movement and emotions. Music stimulates, excites and gives joy. During this workshop you’ll investigate how music, sound and use of voice influences our way of moving. Also, get a taste of how Platform-K works.

Through deeply connecting improvisations and choreography you create synergy between experienced dancers with and without disabilities. Every day starts with an intense warm-up and an active movement class. During the afternoons you work with improvisation and creative assignments. You play with synchronous and asynchronous movements to music and use your breath as a starting point to make sound and new movements.

You end each day with a jam session accompanied by a musician / vocalist, so you can fully experience the discoveries of that day. The daily dance jam from 16:00 till 17:00 is open to external dancers; anyone who feels like an hour of live improvisation.

In this short movie you see an improvised meeting between dancers Hannah Bekemans, Benjamin Vandewalle and musician Fulco Ottervanger.
